Join us a an Economist performing the following duties:
Assemble and review data. Conduct statistical analyzes and complete studies of real estate and mortgage related data. Prepare and maintain programs and documentation for asset and asset risk models. Assist management in monitoring and re-engineering current models and their prototypes, as needed, to improve and enhance core models and group research objectives. Develop knowledge and skills necessary for mortgage finance related analysis and research. Conceive, lead, and manage quantitative and qualitative research projects independently. Assess and communicate research results to internal and external stakeholders. Fulfill ad-hoc requests for data and analytical reporting to support business units throughout the organization.
In addition to Washington, DC, these positions can also be located in San Francisco, Sacramento or Santa Ana, CA.
Job Qualifications Note: We have two economist positions available, each with the following focus, 1) Professional Services and 2) Risk/Valuation Modeler. When applying please indicate which focus interests you.
These positions require 4-8 years experience and/or a Bachelor degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills may be acquired. Must be detail oriented and have ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Ability to communicating ideas effectively, both verbally and in writing. Ability to prepare high-quality written research products and analysis. Ability to meet strict deadlines. Some travel may be required. Strong PC (Excel), interpersonal, and presentation skills. Understanding of relational database principles and experience developing SQL scripts a plus. Familiarity with statistical software such as SAS or SPSS a plus.
