Business Analyst - Risk Management – 036590
Description
Join one of the most important teams at Amazon and make a difference. The Transaction Risk Management Team is charged with safeguarding all Amazon marketplaces to ensure long-term buyer satisfaction with their experiences. We achieve this through a combination of automated and manual investigations of the buyers and sellers on our marketplace. We are seeking a business analyst to compile and analyze metrics for our Operations team. This is a critical role to help the entire team understand process performance, identify improvements, and replicate best practices. We have terabytes of data to a level of granularity that other companies only dream about.
Some of the responsibilities of this role include:
* Building scalable real-time and automated off-line metrics.
* Building models to forecast volume, capacity and headcount based on numerous variables such as buyer activity and seller growth
* Providing weekly productivity and quality metrics to aid in the sharing of best practices, training, and employee development.
* Data mining and analysis to uncover trends and correlations in investigator activities and performance.
* Make recommendations for investigator actions to resolve issues.
* Defining and implementing new metrics to improve key drivers of our business efficiency, quality of decisions, and bad debt reduction.
* Participating in Operational Excellence/Six Sigma/Kaizen projects to analyze and improve processes and quality.
* Generating metrics as requested by senior leadership; participate in strategic planning efforts
Qualifications
* Success in this role requires exceptional analytics, judgment, and communication skills. You need to be able to extract insights from data in a way to clearly communicate root cause and propose action plans. Candidate requirements include:
* A degree in statistics, business, or computer science
* A proven track record of business intelligence or data mining experience in an operational environment focused primarily on process management or quality improvement (e.g. production, inventory management, customer service, queuing analysis, etc.)
* Experience using SQL, SAS, PERL in the UNIX platform required
* Excel/VBA required
* Knowledge of Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition (OBIEE) preferred
* Six Sigma certification a plus
