Quality Engineer (Houston, TX)
The Quality Engineer will be responsible for running process and project management utilizing expert skills with statistical techniques. As a leader in the quality department, you will lead cross functional teams in the implementation of continuous improvement activities, analyze production processes and utilize problem solving methodology to identify root causes and develop creative, appropriate solutions.
The successful candidate will be a proficient user of six sigma methodologies to reduce manufacturing variability and statistical analysis methods for process control as well as leading initiatives that reduce waste and non-value added activity utilizing Lean principles.
Qualifications / Proficiencies
* Minimum 5 years experience with quality engineering responsibilities in a manufacturing industry to include FMEA's, controls plans, values stream mapping, fishbone diagrams, and continuous improvement initiatives to name a few.
* Analyze historical and real-time data to understand the process and equipment trends, characteristics, dependencies on other upstream and downstream processes
* Think out-of-the-box and come up with creative solutions to complex problems
* Collaborate cross-functionally at various levels from manufacturing technicians to senior managers across the organization in solving problems
* Demonstrated proficiency in applying Six Sigma methodologies to reduce manufacturing variability and of Lean methodologies to reduce and eliminate waste.
* Must have demonstrated a record of achievement in problem solving with production teams.
* Experience leading and developing continuous improvement projects.
Job Requirements
* Skilled in use of personal computers with emphasis on analytical software.
* Excellent verbal communication, presentation, training and leadership skills.
* Oral and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, and superior organizational abilities.
* Ability to take initiative, to maintain confidentiality, to meet deadlines, and to work in a team environment essential.
* Must possess strong team player/leadership skills and the ability to work with all levels of the organization.
Education
* B.S. in an Engineering/Technical discipline required.
* Six Sigma trained/certified (Black Belt preferred)
* Lean methodology trained/certified
* ISO/AS auditor training preferred
