Olin Corporation Chlor Alkali Products has an opening for an Operational Excellence Leader at the Henderson, Nevada facility. This role is the visible proponent for continuous improvement at the site. The successful candidate will promote and establish a culture of continuous improvement. They must be able to influence the site in generating and implementing ideas and eight step projects.
Responsibilities include the ability to influence the site in generating and implementing ideas and Eight-Step projects; promotes the Olin Operational Excellence Culture; manages the Operational Excellence Database; becomes the Content Expert for the QualPro Eight-Step Procedure and the Olin Idea Process; achieves the required Benefit Capture Savings results for the site; tracks & schedules OpEx training necessary for the site; meets with Operations groups on a regular basis to promote OpEx; manages and holds people accountable for Implementation Step Completion at the site; manages the Eight Step Project Portfolio and the content and agenda of QualPro and Division resource visits so that they are productive & useful; learns the site chemical and other processes to be able to prioritize and lead Process Improvement efforts; prepares for and leads OpEx reviews and attends OpEx Leaders' meetings; attends the QualPro Leadership Symposium(QLS) and promotes it so that others attend as well; works toward having at least one presentation for QLS each year; communicates with the Plant Manager & Operations Manager so they are informed and may effectively lead the OpEx Efforts at the site; recommends & administrates reward strategies that promote desired OpEx behaviors like Idea Generations, Idea Evaluation, Idea Implementation, Savings capture, and Eight Step Project completion; solicits and encourages Idea Generation; develops and delivers New Employee orientation for OpEx; regularly reviews Ideas from other sites to identify opportunities; prepares regular updates for Plant and Division Management on OpEx progress; keeps the Database Savings updated at least quarterly; works with the site to calculate savings for Ideas and Eight Step Projects; prepares Schedule K for Budget documents; participates in giving and receiving OpEx Peer Reviews at least once per year; participates in Monthly Eight Step Conference calls and arranges for site personnel to both attend and present at such venues; participates in OpEx Leader calls held with the OpEx Director; leads the site in OpEx Participation; recognizes and encourages employees at all levels in participation in the process; leads the OpEx Core Team for the site; provides Site Management with guidance and recommendations as to the makeup of the Site Core Team.
Qualifications include:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering required; Chemical Engineering discipline preferred.
- A minimum of 3 years Engineering work experience is required; manufacturing experience preferred; process or chemical plant experience preferred.
- Work experience in productivity initiatives using statistical process control concepts, such as Six Sigma, Qual Pro, Lean Manufacturing, etc… is required.
- Proven experience in Microsoft Office products (i.e. Word, Excel, Outlook, etc...) is required; experience with continuous improvement packages and softwares is preferred.
- Demonstrated competencies for the role include drive for results, creativity, decision quality, directing others, learning ability, listening, planning/timing management, and interpersonal and communication/presentation skills.
- This position is intended to be a talent strategy role; the successful candidate should have the ability to develop to the next career level.
