Basic qualifications:
Bachelors degree in Chemical/Polymers/Petroleum Engineering (PE Certification Preferred)
Minimum 5 years experience in relevant pharmaceutical, fine chemicals, or petroleum manufacturing environment.
Experience in powder handling and solid dosage forms.
Experienced on the use of Microsoft Software packages
Preferred qualifications:
Continuous improvement background with knowledge of Lean Manufacturing/Six Sigma/OE tools and techniques (preferably black belt trained)
Ability to take ownership of new processes/equipment and drive integration and improvement
Analytical experience and a quality control/process reliability background may be helpful
Experience in manufacturing processes and unit operations including: Roller compaction, dry milling, tablet compression, secondary packaging, dry powder blending, wet granulation, vacuum conveying, powder weighing and dispensing, and vacuum drying.
Experience in FMEA/FMECA or other root cause techniques
Experience in managing engineering and change projects.
Experience of automation and control of batch and continuous processes.
Experience with Statistical Process Control in a pharmaceutical environment
Experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing environment with powder handling processes and unit operations and solid dosage forms helpful
Details:
The role will lead process development activities for the site and will be the Technical lead in the performance improvement activities across a portfolio of large scale powders mixing, transfer, blending, tableting, and drying equipment
The role will help provide a much better Process Understanding of the Memphis sites manufacturing processes which can be used to improve process capability and control at shop floor level. The role will provide technical support and guidance to the manufacturing operations team, improvement initiatives, and provide management of key technical projects within the facility.
Assist with the development of technical capability on site
Accountability:
Responsible for fully understanding the Memphis sites manufacturing processes providing necessary product specific technical support and leadership for the site.
This person be working autonomously with limited guidance from the Line Manager
Responsible for utilizing best industry practices
Knowledge of internal/external standards and processes to make procedural and process improvements
Provide direction to Continuous improvement technicians, calibration technician and project engineers as a functional specialist.
Although the role will not have any direct reports, the role will be heavily involved with many of the functions across site. For example the role will have matrix reporting to Quality with respect to out- of specification events relating to manufacturing processes and provide support to process and cleaning validations as needed. The role will have matrix responsibilities to EHS regarding development of the process safety competence across site. The role will have matrix responsibilities to the sites business development team providing technical input on new products or proposed product variations.
The role will be responsible for delivering at least $250K in savings for the site each year through process improvement opportunities. The role will be involved managing aspects of ‘New product’ and ‘process improvement’ capital projects where the product the value of capital projects managed by this role can be in the region of $500K. A number of projects of this size per annum may be implemented.
