QVC, Inc. is in search of a Senior Internal Business Consultant at our corporate headquarters in West Chester, PA. Under the limited direction of the Director, Strategic Business Analysis, the Sr. Internal Consultant provides comprehensive analysis, project management and makes business recommendations to enable project teams and Senior Management to make sound business decisions.
The Sr. Internal Consultant will be a technical expert in several of the following areas: mathematical optimization, simulation, queuing theory, statistics, forecasting, data mining, operations management, industrial engineering, supply chain, financial modeling, quantitative decision support, technical project management and process reengineering.
The Sr. Internal Consultant will lead and/or support multi-departmental teams with strategy, concept and design of operations, processes and systems. He/she will be an expert in analytical modeling and selection of the best applications for the business situation. He/she will also work independently and be completely accountable for multiple projects concurrently and provide accurate, appropriate findings and recommendations.
The Sr. Internal Consultant:
- provides complex ad hoc financial, operational and statistical analysis to support internal clients.
- assesses and provides meaningful technical modeling when appropriate for analysis.
- identifies, defines and communicates project deliverables to clients to ensure that there is a thorough understanding of goals and objectives.
- Produces reports and analyses within specific deadlines to facilitate operational and management decisions.
- conducts initial project brainstorming, develops appropriate methodology, creates business/math models, provides technical modeling, analyzes scenarios and options, determines proper recommendations and documents findings.
- Must be able to comprehend complex info. and processes with regard to understanding business processes and relationships.
- ability to identify appropriate analysis and modeling methods with clear strategic understanding of the issues.
- prepares formal presentations for internal clients.
- anticipates impact of decisions, delays, functionality on business. Maintains a strategic and practical perspective in all evaluations.
- takes complete accountability for entire life-cycle of project.
Qualifications & Requirements
- An advanced degree in Business, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering or related discipline required. PhD preferred.
- Degree in Operations Research, Management Science, Operations Management or Industrial Engineering preferred.
- Must have at least 10 years of analysis and modeling experience. 3 to 5 years experience in leading internal consulting and managing projects is required.
- Solid background using technical tools such as algebraic modeling, simulation, statistics, etc.
- Solid background in managing analytical and decision support projects.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Data manipulation skill: Excel, Access, SQL (Oracle Data Whse).
- Optimization software (we use GAMS/CPLEX).
- Simulation software (we use Automod, Witness).
- Statistical software experience.
- Must be able to communicate effectively with Senior Mgmt.
- Up to 20% travel, including international
