Job Responsibilities
The primary role of the marketing analyst is to own customer insight by collecting, managing and analyzing the customer data that drives the Marketing department's actions and measures its success. This entails defining the CRM strategy for Commission Junction and providing actionable analysis/recommendations to enable teams to define marketing and product strategies. Other major areas of responsibility include defining key performance indicators and overseeing data collection, reporting and analysis for marketing campaigns; and managing the marketing department budget for spend and ROI.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
CRM Data Collection, Reporting and Analysis
Lead our customer intelligence efforts by collecting and analyzing customer data to facilitate the evaluation of existing and potential product and service markets:
- Work cross-functionally across the organization to recommend, implement and maintain CRM data systems and processes and to ensure integration with existing systems.
- Query and retrieve existing customer data from internal resources and conduct complex analyses, investigations and evaluations to determine product performance; recommend pricing adjustments and product additions and identify limitations.
- Segment customer data to assist in the implementation of effective customer acquisition, cross-selling, up-selling, win-back and retention campaigns.
- Conduct new customer research, profiling and segmentation.
- Analyze customer behavior to aid product and service decision-making (e.g., pricing, new product development, etc.)
- Track and report on such customer behavior as churn (loss analysis), feature use, etc.
- Develop test matrices and procedures to ensure the accuracy and statistical validity of customer opinion research surveys and compile and analyze survey results.
Campaign Data Collection, Reporting and Analysis
Analyze and interpret campaign performance, including building the response data into customer and prospect data marts:
- Utilize new and existing Web-based tools to develop reporting capabilities and custom dashboards for the marketing department.
- Develop key performance indicators (KPIs) for all multi-channel marketing campaigns.
- Produce and maintain daily/weekly/monthly campaign tracking reports as well as ad hoc reports.
- Provide accurate, useful and timely analysis that identifies the variables affecting ROI for all campaigns.
Report on findings and collaborate with marketing managers and marketing program manager to make recommendations regarding campaign optimization strategy.
Budget Management
Track and report on overall spend and assist in preparing annual marketing budget:
- Track and report on expenditures monthly, quarterly and annually.
- Analyze and explain monthly/yearly variances to budget for the key operating metrics.
- Provide monthly, quarterly, annual and ad hoc forecasts, as required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:
- Highly analytical and detail oriented.
- Ability to synthesize large amounts of data and to articulate key takeaways through the use of a direct communication style.
- Experience with SQL, Access, Excel and Salesforce.
- Experience developing graphs and charts for communicating trends and comparisons.
- At least 1 year of experience implementing and analyzing data with Google Analytics, Hitbox, Omniture or similar application.
- Familiarity with Net Promoter Score helpful.
- Highly skilled at devising and maintaining integrated tracking methodologies and, more importantly, the ability to identify and act upon key findings and trends.
- Ability to juggle multiple priorities in a dynamic business environment.
- Excellent problem solver who can work independently as well as in a team environment.
- Quick learner who can take initiative and assumes accountability.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in mathematics, statistics, econometrics, computer science or related course study.
- 3-5 years' experience in quantitative marketing with in-depth knowledge of response modeling and advanced statistical / mathematical experience.
