The Amazon Traffic team is tasked with managing and developing Amazon’s traffic (marketing) channels with the goal of maximizing revenue growth while minimizing variable marketing expense. These traffic channels – which combined represents billions of dollars of annual revenue – include sponsored and free links on search engine pages, emails, banner ads, TV, and our large affiliate (a.k.a Associates) program.
The Traffic Analytics team is a crucial function within the traffic team, tasked with understanding Amazon’s customer behavior at the individual and aggregate level, developing predictive models that enable our marketing programs, and tackling large projects designed to influence the management of our traffic driving programs. All of this is accomplished through deep data mining, statistical analyses, implementation of designed experiments, and creation of mathematical models.
The role of the Statistical Analyst is to provide statistical analyses, modeling, and support to the worldwide Traffic Analytics team. This key player will act as a statistical expert to Amazon’s internal traffic teams and will be responsible for creating statistical models and recommendations that guide our media optimization, financial planning, and execution strategy.
The successful candidate will be familiar and comfortable with advanced statistical techniques and have a strong ability to communicate clearly with both business owners and analytics team members. The candidate must be able to roll up his or her sleeves and work directly with the data. The candidate will need to demonstrate a penchant for execution and completion; driving projects to a solution quickly and accurately.
Key Responsibilities
* Work with various stakeholders, including traffic channel leaders, to understand business drivers, goals and actionable outcomes of large scale traffic analyses.
* Help to pull data and perform basic analytical exercises.
* Work with Traffic Analytics leadership to present key findings from analyses to stakeholders.
* Provide input on suggested business actions based on analytical findings.
Qualifications
* 5+ years statistical modeling, technical consulting, or related experience
* Marketing Mix Modeling experience a plus
* Demonstrated understanding of database marketing, interactive business and financial principles
* Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills Experienced SQL and SAS programmer.
* Extremely familiar with Excel: macro and Visual Basic experience a plus
* Master's degree+ in Math/Statistics/Economics. PhD preferred.
